SO FAR THIS YEAR:
During 2012 we want, move than ever, to be a church that is facing outwards - looking to be a blessing to the community in which we are based. We will run a number of new projects to show God’s love in practical ways to the people of Yeadon. We will have a variety of social events for people to come and enjoy, and a series of special services for anyone wanting to find out more about this God who longs to bless. Our motto for this year is "St. John's Church - here to bless the people of Yeadon!"
Listening to people's view of local needs in the community and offering to pray a blessing for their homes and family.
Raising money for resources to help local primary schools teach the Christian faith within the RE curriculum.
We'll be on the High Street offering to pray with anyone for any reason. We've found that many people, with or without a faith, find this a really helpful experience. We won't be pressurising people,
just offering concern and a listening ear.
Chocolate hearts, daffodils, hot cross buns and paper crowns. We'll be giving away a whole range of seasonal gifts to remind people how special they are in God's eyes!
And during the year we'll be looking for other opportunities to bless those who live, work or worship in Yeadon: shops, businesses, councillors, MPs, local police and school staff. Do you have ideas of how St. John's Church could be a blessing to its community? Then let us know.
We can't do everything, but we do want to hear people's views.
