What is Alpha?
The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith
in a way that is relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun.
The course consists of ten sessions plus an optional away-day and, while you benefit most
from attending everything, it is not essential to do so. During Alpha we will look at
the following themes:
-
Who is Jesus?
-
Why did Jesus die?
-
How can I be sure of my faith?
-
Why and how should I read the Bible?
-
Why and how do I pray?
-
How does God guide us?
-
Who is the Holy Spirit and what does he do?
-
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
-
How can I resist evil?
-
Why and how should I tell others?
-
Does God heal today?
-
What about the Church?

What's involved?
Each session begins at 7.00pm with a meal followed by a message on the theme.
This will be a video presentation or a live speaker. After a coffee break we divide into
small groups to discuss issues raised by the talk. People contribute to the discussion
in whatever way they feel comfortable and no question is regarded as too hostile
or too simple.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for anyone aged 14 and above. It particularly caters for:
-
People investigating Christianity
-
New Christians
-
Newcomers to the church
-
Those who want to renew or deepen their faith
What will it cost?
There is no charge for the Alpha course, although a contribution towards the the evening meal would be appreciated. There is, however, a charge for the away-day to cover the cost of the venue and food.
When does it run?
Our next Alpha Course begins on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm, starting 9th October 2025.
The week before, on Thursday 2nd October at 7.00pm, there is a free Alpha Banquet. This is a no-obligation 'taster' evening, which you are invited to attend whether or not you have decided to come on the course.
All meetings take place in the church hall.
N.B. If we have enough teenagers coming along we'll run Youth Alpha alongside the Alpha Course.
